Surabaya.

This post is dedicated to my lovely city.
To all who are going to visit Surabaya in the near of far future xD

I will try to say as much as possible.

General
The city of Surabaya is known as the city of heroes due to the numerous heroic happenings in the area, long time ago. It is located at the East part of Java Island, Indonesia. It is the second largest and busiest city in Indonesia after the capital, Jakarta.

The temperature in Surabaya currently is between 24 - 32 Degree Celcius. So of course, please refrain from being any bulky clothings. You will drown in your own sweat :D

Timing wise, Surabaya is GMT+7, which is the same time zone as Jakarta. So, if you want to catch a movie or drama in a local TV channel, you can just follow the time stated! Do not have to convert.

Well, this is the icon of Surabaya. Is a shark and a crocodile (or alligator, I'm sorry I can't differentiate them).
This statue is located in front of Surabaya Zoo.

Surabaya has an International airport, so it is not that hard to reach here!

Modes of Transportation

In Surabaya, there are a number of ways you can move around.
There are these cars that has certain route, similar to a bus, just smaller.

Or, there are men on motorcycles who will take you around. A motorcycle-taxi. Is called "OJEK" (oah-jack) locally.

Or, you can always rent a car or a motorcycle yourself!

Of course, taxis are also available at a relatively affordable rate.

Food
Surabaya is known for its food.
There are lots of food you can find here!

The best ones are the ones at the roadside, as unhygienic as it may seems.
The small tents along the streets are not that dirty actually, and it serves the best food.

Some of the must-try food include:
1. Lontong Balap
2. Soto Daging or i.e. Soto Madura (Yellow Beef Soup)
3. Rujak Cingur (Traditional Salad)
4. Ayam Penyet (Squashed fried chicken with chilli)
5. Bakso (Meatball soup)
6. Soto Ayam (Yellow Chicken Soup)
7. Sate Ayam (Barberqued chicken with peanut sauce)
8. Nasi goreng (Fried rice) - try getting the ones from the moving vendors.
9. Rawon (Black beef soup)
10. Pecel lele (Fried catfish with chilli)

These are just some of them. I'm literally drooling mannn!!!

Places to visit

2. House of Sampoerna
3. Suramadu bridge (connecting Surabaya and Madura Island)
4. Grahadi Building
5. Masjid Al-Akbar (Al-Akbar Mosque)
